Victor Rego, born in Vert-St-Denis, France (it says so in my passport), early childhood spent in Montreal (via some time in Portugal), formative years were in Calgary, Alberta, before returning to Montreal as an adult (of sorts).
At the beginning, I ran a bookstore but more recently I ran the theatrical department of what was Canada’s biggest independent film distribution company.
Began in post-production but soon started creating movie trailers & tv spots before being asked to handle the creative on entire film campaigns. That led to being responsible for the films' release and eventually that section of the company, first for Quebec and then for Canada.
Have been blessed to work alongside some of the most amazing colleagues throughout these 25 years (you know who you are!).
I had the amazing opportunity to work in all genres of films, from horror to intimate art-house titles, international blockbuster franchises like Twilight, Hunger Games and John Wick, to Oscar winners and black & white documentaries. Over 25 years, my time was shared between collaborations with Canadian film-makers and U.S. studios such as Summit, Lionsgate, Paramount, MGM/UA, Fox Searchlight, Universal and He who must not be named.
Along the way there was key-art, trailers, digital campaigns, marketing campaigns and events based on my concepts. Release strategies for hundreds of films, world premieres and TIFF Special Presentations & Galas along with indies and crassly commercial titles for which I was responsible.
